Hollywood (I'm too Sexy for my Fur) Squirt

He thinks he's just all that and a bag of Friskies Treats.  You'd swear he was a movie star or something the way the Big Cats cater to his every whim & whimper.

I remember when he was younger I used to kick his butt all over the neighborhood. A couple of times the Big Cat had to intervene before I really walloped him good!

The Big Cats tell the story of how he was a stray, just like us, who one day just decided to invite himself in and have lunch. Apparently he even opened the door himself and just waltzed right in. Now that's gotta take some big cajones!

They called him 'Squirt' 'cause he was a runt. As you can see he barely fills the bottom of the basket. Now that he's got a steady source of kibble he's about three times that size and his gut hangs out over the side of the basket but I can still kick his butt if I have to!

I think he had the 'operation' too. He doesn't seem to want to go toe to toe with me anymore. We still exchange a few 'High Fives' now and then but usually I just ignore him. But if I wanted to I could still kick his butt! Well pretty sure I could if I wanted to but I don't really want to anymore since the 'operation'.

The other Big Cat seems to fancy him. As you can see they're all snuggly wuggly and bestest buddies all the time. I used to get snuggles like that but not so much any more.

For warmth I usually I have to settle for whichever body isn't occupied at the time. The Princess and Squirt normally get first dibs on a body so Momma and I will cuddle up somewhere like we're second class cats in this cat house.

Every once in awhile, when Squirt's not around, I can sneak in a cuddle with the other Big Cat. She's a good cluddler & snuggler and gives the bestest ear scratchies ever! I think Momma gets jealous sometimes but Momma won't snuggle with anyone else but me or the Baby cat. She doesn't know what she's missing.

So that's about it for now. There's more stories to come on Hollywood Squirt but I'll save them for another day. I'll leave you with just this silly picture of how the Big Cats try to humiliate him. I hope you get a chuckle out of it, I did!

Maybe I'll go kick his butt just for fun!

Meow long and prosper my friends!

Baby Tuxedo Cat 3, Meeces 0

Baby Tuxedo Cat is a good meecer.
She loves to stalk the furry lil' critters.
So far this week she's caught three meeces.
See what I caught?
I don't hunt meeces anymore.
I'm too old for that.
It's kids stuff anyways.
Doesn't help that I can't see them with my ole' eyes. :-(
It's right here Dad! Look!
Oh Ok. I see it now. I think.
I do like to sit on the sidelines and watch the action.
The back porch is a good vantage point.
This way I can conserve as much energy as possible.
Ahhh the best vantage point to watch the action.
I used to catch lots of meeces.
But that's when that's all we had to eat.
Have a purrfect day and be careful out there.

I think she likes me

Dunno how long the ole' girl has been beside me,
but I really do think she likes me.
She greets me at the door every time I come in,
and has stuck with me through thick and thin.
She really is very pretty,
for an ole' stray tabby kitty.
She often strikes a sexy pose,
even though she's got a messy nose.
We know our days on this planet are numbered,
yet we choose to spend most of them in slumber.
Each and every moment together is special,
so I hold her close and gentle..
When my days finally come to an end,
I know she'll be my forever friend.
Life is too short to go it alone,
so cuddle up tight in your forever home.

A purrfect match! :-)

Sometimes I'm ashamed

Sometimes I'm ashamed of the Big Cats. They make us do things we don't want to do like come inside at night. They only give us food at certain times of the day. They insist we don't barf up our hair balls on the living room floor or kitchen table. I tell you it's just deplorable how they treat us sometimes. Get this, once the Big Cat put a collar on me. A collar with a frikken Bell! Oh the infelinity of it all!
Seriously? A bell?
As you can see I'm not impressed. Not impressed at all. How can any self respecting Tom Cat put up with a collar and especially a collar with a frikken Bell on it! Humph! If the 'He Man Tom Cat Club' ever got wind of that they'd kick me out! Well, lemme tell ya, that collar and bell didn't make it home that night. No sir, no way, no how, nope!

I think the worst indignity I have to suffer at the paws of the Big Cats comes at bed time. I mean, I get there in plenty of time. Usually I'm first or second in the bed. Then the Big Cats show up and try to squish me out! The nerve of them! Do they not understand that I am the Alpha Male in this colony. I am the only bonafide Ring Tailed Tom Cat!

I guess all I can do is bow my head in disgust.  [/rant]

Lazy Day Laying About

Today was a good day to just laze about. I'm old you see. I don't run around like a monkey anymore. I like to sit back and watch the other gooches run around like monkeys. I would much rather conserve energy for more important things like eating and taking a cat nap. Here I am putting on a full out burst of speed. Don't blink or you'll miss it!

I have quite a few places inside where I like to lounge. These are some of my most favorite.

#1 The Cat Tree
The Cat Tree

This is by far the best perch in the house. In the warm time there's a breeze that blows through the house right across the cat tree. It's a good place, as the big cat says: "good place to blow the stink off". It's also the best place to snag the arm of a big cat who just happens to be passing by in order to get more scratchies. One of the big cats doesn't like this too much. She taps me on the nose when I do it. The other big cat doesn't mind and always gives me scratchies.

#2 The Big Cat
The Big Cat

Big cats are always the best place for a cat nap during the cold times. I especially like this big cat. She's always nice and snuggly warm and gives the best ear scratchies. Sometimes the big cat falls asleep and purrs too. The other big cat always says: "I have to turn up the TV volume to drown you two out." Sometimes the big cat will go upstairs to bed and the other big cat and me will stay downstairs almost all night. It's really hard to get up and move when you're so snuggly warm and comfy. I could stay this way forever except when it's the warm time again.

#3 The Momma Cat
Snugglin' with Momma Cat

I like to snuggle with the Momma cat and she likes to snuggle with me. We've been together for a long time now. I don't know how long but it's long. She's a good snuggler too but not quite as good as the other big cat. Momma cat always greets me at the door when I come in. She's bossy sometimes and 'natters at me' for being outside too long or not paying attention to her or not telling her how pretty she is. I just let it go in one ear and out the other. I still love the Momma cat though. She's pretty.

Baby and Momma
The Momma and her Baby snuggle together a lot. They have some spots they like to snuggle. There's a big pillow in the corner or on the couch. They have always been close and snuggle all the time.

Shadow (aka The Princess)
Shadow (aka The Princess) doesn't snuggle with anyone but the Big Cat. She's grumpy most of the time. She gets to sleep pretty much anywhere she wants. She picks the weirdest places sometimes. She thinks she's special.

Squirt (aka Hollywood Squirt)
Squirt (aka Hollywood Squirt) sleeps anywhere. Doesn't matter to him where. The Big Cats have to be careful because they're always stepping on Squirt. He takes up a lot of room. The Big cat says: "He's not fat, he's fluffy and takes up a lot of space."

The Big Cat want's to get a sign made. He says this place is a "Flop House for Gooches". I'm tired now. I think I'll go back to the cat tree and have a nap. See you soon.

The Dog Days of Summer

Ahhhhhh coooooooool
Oh boy. It's hot again. I don't much like it when it's this hot. Sometimes it's hard to find a place to stay out of the sun and cool.

The best place is usually in the house. I don't like being in the house when it's nice outside but I don't like 'Roasting My Bacon' either. The Big Cats usually call us 'Fur Puddles' although I don't know what that means. All I hear is 'don't step in the fur puddle'.

He follows me everywhere!
Sometimes we like to rest under the boxy things in the door yard. They have shade and the bricks stay cool. That fat orange stripy cat always follows me where ever I go. I can't seem to get away from him.

More lounging in the shade.
I guess it's not so bad sharing my shade with the fat orange stripy cat. At least we don't have the energy to fight when it's this hot outside. Besides I think he's tired of me kicking his butt. The Big Cats say that we are just not as aggressive since we lost our 'knickers'. I don't know what knickers are and I don't know where mine went but I don't seem to miss them.

Ahhhh coooooool!
When it's really hot we sometimes spend the whole day in the basement. The Big Cat hangs out down there playing on something called a 'computer'. I don't know what a computer is but it's not for sleeping on in hot weather either. The Baby cat is smart. She likes to sleep on the floor in the basement.

There's plenty of spots to hide in the basement. Sometimes when it storms outside or a stranger comes to the house we hide in the basement. It makes us feel safe. It's good to be safe in our Forever Home.

Roasting bacon!

Too Hot for an ole' Tom Cat

Sometimes shade is scarce.
It's terribly hot today. I don't like it much when it's this hot. When you're all covered with fur and you don't sweat it's hard to keep cool.

Sometimes shade is hard to find. There are the usual spots, front porch, back porch, under the thing the Big Cat calls a 'Dinky' and the odd parked car or two. The grass is fun to lay in and it cools your belly pretty good. I also like to roll in the dirt from time to time.

I really love my front porch. It's my favorite place to just hang out but in the afternoon it can get way too hot. When it gets too hot I usually go in the house and hang out in the basement with the Big Cat. He says it's much cooler down in the basement. Who knew he was so smart eh?

My bacon is hanging out?
The Big Cat laughs at me when I lay on the porch like this. He says "My bacon is hanging out" or "are you sunning your bacon?" I don't know what bacon is but I don't think I like it. The Big Cats seem to think it's funny when a poor ole' Tom Cat is roasting in the sun. I fear they will never truly understand me.

Kitty Sun Porch
For the longest time Momma cat never went outside. The Princess doesn't go outside either. One day the Big Cat built Momma and Shadow a screened in sun porch on the side of the house.

The Princess on her Sun Porch
The Big Cat built this for Momma and Shadow but we all take turns. Sometimes there's two or three of us in there. The Big Cat always worries it won't be strong enough for all our fat butts in there at one time. It's held up pretty well so far.

Smile for the Birdie
This morning I was lounging on the back porch when the Big Cat stuck that silly box thing in my face and said "Smile for the Birdie!" I know what a birdie is, I eats birdies but I got no idea what a 'smile' is so I shot him this look!

What do you think I'm saying to the Big Cat?

Thanks for looking in. More adventures with the Big Cat coming soon.

Cheers

My Name is Boots

Boots
I'm a cat.
I'm an Tom Cat.
I'm a Ring Tailed Ole' Tom cat.

I was lost for a long time. I'd spend the winter in the pallet factory beside the feed store. I managed to survive there for many years. I would visit neighborhoods in the spring, summer and fall and got food from Big Cats who live in houses. Most were kind to me. Some medium sized cats were not so nice and would chase me and throw sticks at me.

I would go back to the pallet yard beside the feed store for the winter. I don't know how many years I did this but it was a lot. One year a girl cat came long.

Momma
She's a cat.
She's a very pretty cat.
She's got a messy face!

We got along fine. Several month later we were joined by some little cats. I don't know how many exactly. It was tough having little ones to feed. Only one survived.

Baby
She's a cat.
She's a very pretty cat.
She's wearing a tuxedo!

We foraged for food as best we could. There were little furry critters to eat near the feed store. In the spring we would venture further afield to search for food. One day we found a house with other cats.

I met an orange cat.

Squirt
He's a cat.
He's orange with stripes.
He likes to fight with me.
I kicked his butt.

This was our life for a few years. Winter in the pallet yard. Spring, summer and fall hanging out near the house with the other cats. The Big Cats who live in the house would leave us nummies to eat. We liked it there. I especially liked something the Big Cats called 'Thanksgiving dinner'. It was hot and yummy and lotsa gravy. We would lick the gravy off and then chow down on the meat! Our bellies were always full.

Thanksgiving Dinner
Winter came hard and fast that year. We didn't go back to the pallet factory. The baby cat got attacked by a racoon and lost two of her toes on her hind foot. The Big Cats took her into the house for safety. The next day they took the Momma cat into the house too. I was alone again. I didn't know what to do so I went back to the pallet factory. I spent that winter alone. It was a long cold winter.

Hurt, scared, hungry.
I wandered around for a long time looking for the Momma and her baby cat. In the spring I went back to the house with the other cats. I could see Momma and the baby cat in the window. I got into fights with other cats who didn't like me. I was hurt, I was skinny and I was hungry. The Big Cat seemed happy to see me. He tried to get me to come inside with the other cats. I hesitated and he scooped me up and put me inside. I was scared but it was nice to be with the Momma cat and the baby cat.

The orange cat was there too. He didn't like me at first. We would give each other 'High Fives' in passing.

One day the Big Cat snatched me up and put me in a cage. I was terrified. He put me in the back seat of those big boxy things that run wild up and down the streets. I was so scared. We stopped and the Big Cat took me into see something called a 'Vet Tech'. I was frightened. The Vet Tech had on huge leather gloves. The Big Cat said I was 'feral'. I didn't know what that meant but as soon as the Vet Tech picked me up out of that cage I was happy and I purred. I heard the Big Cat and the Vet Tech talking something about 'his operation' and that is all I remember till the next day when I woke up in the cage again. The Big Cat took me home. I was groggy but happy to see the Momma cat and her baby.

One day the Momma cat and her baby got put in the cage. I don't know what happened to them. They were gone for a long time. I looked everywhere for them. The next day they came home and they were groggy too. I wonder if they got the same 'operation' too!

There is also another cat in the house.

Shadow, aka The Princess
She's a grey and white cat.
She's not very pretty.
She's grumpy all the time.

She hisses and swats at me when I walk past. She hides a lot. The Big Cats call her the 'Princess', whatever that means. I don't pay her any attention. The Momma cat and her don't get along very well either.

The Big Cats take good care of us. There's always plenty to eat and warm places to sleep. We can come and go in and out of the house as we please but we have to be back inside at night. Sometimes I like to stay outside all night but I know that the Big Cats don't like that. They make us stay inside all the next day. I don't like that either. The Momma cat stayed inside for a very long time. The Big Cats always said she was 'Feral' and were afraid she wouldn't come home again if they let her out. Eventually the Momma cat figured it out and can now come and go like the rest of us.

We are a happy family now with a 'Forever Home'.
